Created for maximum cushioning and long-lasting durability, the Wave Creation 11 is Mizuno’s most advanced addition to its ‘Neutral’ line of shoes yet. The debut of Mizuno’s New DynaMotion Fit™ technology synchronises the shoe’s ‘wrap’ characteristics with foot movement, thereby enhancing its responsiveness during the gait cycle. Built with an all new ‘ap+’ midsole, it provides normal to high arch runners with increased luxurious cushioning.

Alike all its siblings in the ‘Neutral’ family, it enables a runner’s foot to work without impediments. The Wave Creation 11 carries with it INFINITY Wave® technology. It comprises of two parallel plates that sit together with soft cushioning pillars in between to provide unrivalled cushioning and improved durability by absorbing as well as dispersing the impact at foot strike.

The Wave Creation 11 is also endorsed with the American Podiatric Medical Association Seal of Acceptance, so runners can be assured of comfort and sheltered protection for their feet and joints.

The Mizuno Mt Faber Run 2009 provided runners a combination of flat road surfaces, uphill and downhill challenges of Mt Faber. One has to prepare for this demanding challenge by setting realistic and attainable goals in finishing this race comfortably.

In order for me to enjoy this run, I had established a structured training programme gradually building up and striking a right balance between long and slow running as well as hill workout efforts. I have also factored in fast-paced running or interval workouts.

The training programme involved a combination of physical conditioning and flat running beginning from the 1st month. Hill running and intervals were then assimilated as fitness improves. I would usually aim to train and run on the actual route during my weekly long run to get used to the terrain as well as the changes in the gradient. Prior to the long run, I would vary my hill training programme focusing on short and long hill runs at Telok Blangah rise and Mt Faber.

Running on the actual route will benefit oneself in terms of familiarization as well as to strategize the effort for a favorable outcome.

I raced the Mizuno Mount Faber Run for the first time in 2009. Unfortunately, I went into the race with a slight injury to my hamstring so my preparations had been limited. However, that meant I was feeling fresher than usual. I had been keen to run the Mount Faber Run as I have a strong background in cross-country.

Mountain running and running hills is one of my strengths so I was definitely keen to challenge myself on what would be one of Singapore’s hilliest races. The race unfolded well for me and I had a clear lead on the other women early in the race. The men were not so keen to let me get away so they provided good competition and I fought it out with them ‘til the end. With a clearly marked course and much of it on the scenic loop of Mount Faber, it was both an enjoyable and challenging run. After the race, there was a chance to look at the race sponsors’ products before presentations were made to the top ten placegetters in each category. We were all lucky enough to be given another Mizuno tee and a Mizuno voucher which I used to purchase more of my favourite gear.
