Mizuno Mount Faber Run 2009 Women’s Open Champion, shares her experience with us
I raced the Mizuno Mount Faber Run for the first time in 2009. Unfortunately, I went into the race with a slight injury to my hamstring so my preparations had been limited. However, that meant I was feeling fresher than usual. I had been keen to run the Mount Faber Run as I have a strong background in cross-country.

Mountain running and running hills is one of my strengths so I was definitely keen to challenge myself on what would be one of Singapore’s hilliest races. The race unfolded well for me and I had a clear lead on the other women early in the race. The men were not so keen to let me get away so they provided good competition and I fought it out with them ‘til the end. With a clearly marked course and much of it on the scenic loop of Mount Faber, it was both an enjoyable and challenging run. After the race, there was a chance to look at the race sponsors’ products before presentations were made to the top ten placegetters in each category. We were all lucky enough to be given another Mizuno tee and a Mizuno voucher which I used to purchase more of my favourite gear.
